He thanked the friends of Liverpool for their mutual support and solidarity with their Chinese partners during the fight against Covid-19, which has opened a new chapter of the friendship between the two peoples.

Chairman Grover and President Millar reviewed the achievements of recent years and introduced the work plan for the current year, especially the cooperation in culture and education, public health and football. They also expressed that they would build on Liverpool’s strong friendship with Shanghai to explore cooperation and investment opportunities with cities such as Kunming, Xi’an, and Tianjin.

LCP was awarded the Greater China Awards by the UK’s Department for International Trade in 2020,and Chairman Grover was awarded an MBE for his outstanding work in trade links with China.

Both sides also exchanged views on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the UK at ambassadorial level and other matters of mutual concern.
