Consul General Tang Rui Visits Leeds University

On 31 October 2023, Consul General Tang Rui visited the University of Leeds and met with Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Hai-Sui Yu. 


Consul General Tang Rui said that leeds Uni left a deep impression to him when he accompanied Ambassador Zheng Zheguang to visit the University at the beginning of his tenure. This was his 2nd visit here and he felt very amicable. The University of Leeds, as one of the most influential research universities in the UK, is highly favored by Chinese students. In recent years, the University’s fruitful exchanges and practical cooperation with several Chinese universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University and Nanjing University, have played a significant role in enhancing British society’s understanding of China. The Chinese government has held a positive and open attitude towards innovative models of high-quality educational cooperation. He expressed hope that the University of Leeds will further strengthen exchanges and collaboration with Chinese universities to learn from each other and achieve win-win results. 


Vice-Chancellor Hai-Sui Yu warmly welcomed Consul General Tang Rui and his delegation to visit the University of Leeds again, noting that the University attaches great importance to the cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutes. It will uphold the spirit of diversity and openness and continuously deepen cooperation with Chinese partners. The University of Leeds encourages students from both China and the UK to study in each other’s countries to build mutual understanding and cultural recognition. 

After the meeting, Consul General Tang Rui visited the campus and attended the “Consular Protection on Campus” activity.
