Consul General Tang Rui Visits Lancaster University

On 6 November 2023, Consul General Tang Rui visited Lancaster University and met with Professor Andy Schofield, Vice Chancellor of the University.  



Consul General Tang said that since his arrival in Manchester at the beginning of July, he has visited universities and colleges in the region to know about cooperation and exchanges in the field of education. Lancaster University is an important university in the consular region, and he hopes that this visit will be an opportunity to provide inspiration and ideas for promoting the educational exchanges between China and the UK. Cooperation between Lancaster University and Beijing Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology has been very fruitful, playing an active role in promoting bilateral relations, friendly exchanges among people, and mutual learning among civilizations. Consul General Tang also thanked the University for its thoughtful care for Chinese students in their study and life. The Chinese government always supports the opening-up of education to the outside world and it is hoped that Lancaster University will continue to deepen its cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutes and play an active role in the educational exchanges between China and the UK. The Consulate General will continue to provide support.

Vice Chancellor Andy Schofield welcomed the visit to Lancaster University of Consul General Tang Rui and the delegation, saying that Chinese students are valuable assets of the University, who are diligent and hard-working and are injecting vitality into the University's internationalization and diversification. In recent years, China has been developing rapidly in 's science and technology, showcasing “China's speed’ in many disciplines. Lancaster University attaches great importance to the cooperation with Chinese institutions, and hopes to continuously work with Chinese partners to meet the challenges of globalization and cultivate high-caliber talents with a global perspective. He also expressed thanks to the Chinese Consulate General for its long-term support to the University which will continue to strengthen communications with the Consulate and work together with the Consulate General to ensure a good learning and living environment for Chinese students.

After the meeting, Consul General Tang Rui visited the campus, ccompanied by head of international cooperation.
