Consul General Tang Rui Attending Liverpool’s Chinese New Year Celebration Dinner

On February 11, Consul General Tang Rui was invited to the Chinese New Year dinner hosted by Liverpool overseas Chinese organizations. Nearly 300 people attended the dinner, including Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Mr Mark Blundell, Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Mary Rasmussen, and mayors of neighboring cities, leaders of overseas Chinese associations and local people.


Consul General Tang Rui extended his sincere Chinese New Year greeting to all walks of life in Liverpool, saying that Liverpool was the city he visited most frequently. In the past year, thanks to the joint efforts of all circles, considerable achievement has been made in the China-Liverpool co-operation in various fields. This year, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai-Liverpool partnership, and the Consulate General is ready to take an active role in promoting celebratory activities being held by the two cities to boost the development of both sides.



In their speeches, the guests recognized the contribution of the overseas Chinese associations to the development of Liverpool. The guests said that they would take the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Liverpool-Shanghai friendship as an opportunity to advance all-round co-operation with China in various fields. The lion dance, dragon dance and other Chinese cultural performances were held at the event.
