On March 30, at the invitation of Paul Dennett, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester and Mayor of Salford, as well as Paul King, Executive Chairman of the Salford Red Devils Club, Consul General Tang Rui attended the home game of Salford Red Devils rugby team and kicked off the match.

Consul General Tang Rui expressed his pleasure as being invited to watch the match at the home court of  Salford Red Devils , which has a history of 151 years. Rugby originated in Britain and has a long history, has been deeply loved by the local people. In recent years, this sport has also been emerging in China, attracting more and more participants. He hoped that both sides would strengthen exchanges in the field of rugby and continuously enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people communication between the two countries. Consul General Tang Rui and Mayor Dennett also exchanged views on deepening sports and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Representatives from Chinese-funded enterprises such as Beijing Construction Engineering Group UK Ltd, Midea Group UK Ltd, Bank of China Manchester Branch, Hainan Airlines, Haier Group etc took part in the event.
